The Unheard Amityville Horror

When I spoke with filmmaker Eric Walter by phone on April 26, I believe I compared him to Fox Mulder, Fox Mulder being a fictional TV character who studied cases that had paranormal connections. Eric Walter doesn’t have X-Files, but he does have Amityville Files, or rather AmityvilleFiles.com, an Internet site Walter created, which has become the largest web-based archive of Amityville-related research.

The research is specific to the murder case that occurred there back in 1974 at 112 Ocean Ave. It was then and there that Ronald DeFeo, Jr. shot and killed six of his family members: his mother, father, two sisters and two brothers.

This would be horrible enough, but about a year after those murders, another family, the Lutz family, moved into that same house and according to them experienced very scary, unexplained and paranormal incidents, lasting 28 days. The scary stuff got so intense that on that 28th day the Lutz family were forced to flee from the house, abandoning all their possessions. This ultimately became the basis for a book and a subsequent movie called The Amityville Horror.

Press Release: My Amityville Horror

by Eric Walter on April 6th, 2010

LOS ANGELES, April 6, 2010 – Film Regions International, Inc. and Lost Witness Pictures, LLC are proud to announce their documentary film debut, My Amityville Horror. The picture is intended for a 2011 film festival release.

In November 1974, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. brutally murdered his parents, brothers and sisters inside the house at 112 Ocean Avenue, Amityville, New York.  One year later, the Lutz family moved in with their three children.  28 days later, they fled in terror, leaving most of their possessions behind.  The family claimed they were subject to a diabolical and demonic haunting that nearly tore their family apart.

For the first time in 35 years, Daniel Lutz, the eldest son of George and Kathleen Lutz, will give his perception on the 28 life-altering days he spent at 112 Ocean Avenue.  Mr. Lutz holds the key to answering the questions the public has been asking since the very beginning:  Was the Amityville house truly haunted?  If so, what really happened?  Why have none of the Lutz children been vocal about their experiences until now?

My Amityville Horror will include a personal look at Lutz’s own life; a first-hand account of the terrifying events that occurred to his entire family; his reflections on how his parents dealt with the exposure and the media-frenzy that befell them; and, how both experiences have affected his life since.

An independent team of investigators and filmmakers have joined together to present the first accurate portrayal of the Amityville events to date.  Both witness testimonies and rare archival footage will be presented to bring Daniel’s story to life.  This will include a chilling, real-life depiction of the Amityville haunting as it has never been presented before, incident by incident, following Daniel through his childhood and onward.

Documentary Storyboards

by Eric Walter on April 5th, 2010

Here are a selection of storyboards that I just completed for the upcoming documentary film, My Amityville Horror. I used a mixture of graphite and marker to give them a gritty texture and gray atmosphere. The majority of these drawings will be included in our presentation to possible investors. The main point is to visually communicate the opening sequence of the film.

Any recreation sequences within the film will not be finalized on paper until all interviews and reality-based footage has been shot. So, much of what I’m doing right now is building sequences and creating situations in which to place key witnesses throughout the picture.

Conceptual Art

by Eric Walter on April 4th, 2010

Here are three recent conceptual drawings from the upcoming documentary film, My Amityville Horror.

In the next few weeks, there will be more of these being posted as I’m very close to officially launching this project on it’s own website. In the meantime, thanks for checking out these sketches. More to come!

Documentary Drawings

by Eric Walter on April 3rd, 2010

Both of these drawings were completed in less than ten minutes, so they’re not perfect. But, you get the idea.

Keep on the look out for more information about the documentary film, My Amityville Horror, coming in the next few weeks.
